Method for Sampling of Fresh Concrete
- AS1012.1
- TfNSW T300
Hunter Civilab specialise in concrete testing, offering a range of services and test types, as well as project compliance testing to RMS & AS specifications.
The taking of a representative sample on-site of fresh concrete.
Moulding concrete cylinders in the field for later compressive strength testing.
Making and Curing of Drying Shrinkage Specimens
Measures the amount that the fresh concrete drops when compacted in a cone 300mm high when the cone is removed. Indicates the consistency of the concrete. Can be a HOLD point / control measure for project work. The consistency is changed in concrete by water content or different admixtures. AS1379 has specified tolerances depending on the specified slump. An increase in water content to a mix will reduce the strength of concrete as the W/C ratio is increased.
Method for securing and testing cores
Measure the flexural strength or bending strength.
Making and curing concrete moulding flex beams in the field for later flexural strength testing.
Mass Per Unit Volume (MPUV) measures the density of fresh concrete.
Used as data input combined with batch records to calculate the yield of a specific delivery of concrete to determine if the plant is within tolerance. To settle arguments from concrete supplier and customer regarding the delivery of amount of concrete ordered.
